Janine is a devoted educator with an honours degree in education. This wife and mother of two will stop at nothing to bring her life’s dream to fruition: creating a safe haven for children from all walks of life.
In 2020 she founded Grace Prep - a totally self-funded prep school. Just three students soon turned to twenty registered pupils within the first year.
As the school grew, so did the need for expansion. Janine established Grace Inspired (a special needs department) in January 2022 to service a growing demand for a special needs education.
The school now also offers an aftercare with assisted homework for working parents, as well as a preschool.
Of her 36 registered students, many come from low income homes and can’t afford school fees. 7 require special needs assistance. With the school being totally self-funded, any profit, donation or funding is dedicated to expansion. There is always a need for funding to keep Janine and her team of eight caring staff members in a position to be able to keep doing their amazing work; educating children from all walks of life, and creating a safe haven in which they can thrive.
WHY WE CHOSE JANINE:
It takes an immense amount of hard work and dedication to start any business. It takes even more grit and determination to keep going. Most business owners are motivated by the eventual reward of profits. Grace prep faces the same challenges of any small business, but with the sole goal of empowering vulnerable children with an education, no matter their financial circumstances or learning capabilities. We believe this deserves our support.
WHAT THE #EmpowHER DONATION WILL BE USED FOR:
Funding will go towards equipping classrooms with supplies. The current focus for Grace Prep is on further expansion of the special needs department to be able to fully support each child’s individual needs. The rest will go to a fund started to support their students and special needs children, whose families can’t afford their education. The school is in the process of purchasing a property to one day be able to offering housing for students who do not have a stable home environment.
